Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia‘s (TCS) year-end fund-raising project comes in the form of a 2013 Turtle Calendar. The small calendar measures 12.5 cm by 10.5 cm and features images of turtle mosaics that are now permanently put up in Turtle Alley, Chinatown, Kuala Terengganu.
Each of these turtle mosaics were hand-made by volunteers over the course of about a year (maybe more). We requested for chipped tiles from tile shops, further broke them into smaller pieces and then assembled them in the shape and pattern of a turtle. In between juggling a full-time job and writing grant proposals for turtle projects, I found time to make six mosaics and one of them is this:
The calendars are priced at RM 10 (or US$ 4) apiece, and 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go to supporting turtle conservation project that TCS carries out. We have initially ordered 1,000 calendars, but within 10 days, we have managed to sell about 900 sets! The calendars are still being printed but we expect them to be ready before the end of November.
If you’re interested in helping us raise funds for turtle conservation, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how many sets you would like, and which address to send them to. If you order a minimum of 5 sets, postage by regular mail will be on the house :D
