If you haven’t already noticed it, I have recently activated a plugin called What Would Seth Godin Do? Well, basically, what the plugin does is that it uses the presence of cookies to treat returning visitors differently than newbies.

Traditionally, you will see the following welcome message the first time you visit:
“I will not be as ridiculous as to ask you to subscribe to my RSS feed since this is your first time here. Please grab a cup of coffee, make yourself at home and feel free to browse the archives
Thanks for dropping by!”
And the next time you drop by, the message will no longer be visible.
However, if you’re a FireFox user and you “Clear Private Data” each time you close your browser window, you clear your cookies as well. Hence the next time you drop by, you will see the above message once again. To avoid seeing the welcome message everyday, you can exclude your cookies from being cleared by going to Tools > Options > Privacy > Private Data > Settings > Uncheck the COOKIES checkbox > Click OK.

So, my dear readers/visitors, how many of you clear your private data each time you close your browser window?
Two days ago I blogged about an all-star plugin called
Commentluv
that displays the title of the commentator’s latest blog post under his comment. Hence, with every comment left on my blog, you will actually be leaving TWO links back to your own blog — one of which is a deep link.
Another thing is that I have just installed another plugin which will remove all “nofollow” tags on the comments, which means that you will be getting some link juice each time you leave me a comment. Now, how does *that* sound?
I am currently using
Lucia’s Linky Love
plugin, which allows a certain degree of customization, for example, the number of comments a commentator must leave before the “nofollow” tag is stripped off the URL as well as from the content of the comment. I love this feature because it allows me to determine who gets the link juice (and who doesn’t)
Oh, and by the way, the “nofollow” tag will only be stripped off real names, and “SEO Marketing” is NOT a name in my dictionary
Visit the official plugin page for more details.
Together with the
Top Commentators
plugin, I am actually using THREE plugins on this blog to reward my loyal readers. Told you I’m a nice person!
Edited (19 October 2007):
I am now using Link Love to remove the “nofollow” tags because Lucia’s Linky Love refused to work on my blog!
Did you realize that each time you leave me a comment, a link to your latest blog post will also appear along with your comment (see picture below)? This is possible with a plugin that I have recently added to my list of “must haves”. It’s aptly called Commentluv by Andy Bailey.

Basically, what the plugin does is that it collects the commentator’s feeds and publishes the title of the last blog post under the commentator’s comment. I personally think that it’s a very simple and effective method to give your commentators some link love for leaving you a comment. I’m sure this plugin works best when the “nofollow” is removed from the comments but I haven’t done that yet
So if you’re impressed already, go ahead and download
Commentluv
and start spreading the love around!
And to all my readers who read my feeds in a feedreader, come on over! I have given you another reason to click through and leave me a comment :-)
