Now that I’m sitting down working on my Master’s thesis, the single most important thing that I keep reminding myself to do is “to backup”. I know this sounds a little crazy, but I back up my work folder every night before I go to bed. I don’t know any other ways to protect my files except to back them up into a CD. And since my work folder contains documents and pictures and scientific journals, I find that zipping them up saves lots of space too.
But then, even THAT is quite risky because I’ve heard of cases where the data stored in the CD went missing after some time. But that just confirms that nothing is permanent, no?
Now, I’ve just read that SecureZip is capable of protecting your confidential personal information — that is, secure information stored on PCs such as progress reports, half-written thesis, bank statements, medical records, passwords, and other private data. Apart from that, it also automatically protects emails and attachments sent to anybody at all.
If you’re currently managing our address book contacts, meetings and schedules with Microsoft Outlook, fret not because SecureZIP integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook to automatically encrypt, digitally sign, and zip email messages and attachments. So there’s no need to worry about incompatibilities and what-nots.
Now the good news is, SecureZIP is currently offering FREE limited-time downloads from www.securezip.com. And all you need to provide is your email address, and a link to download the software will be provided in the email sent to you. No registration process, no hassle.
Continue reading if you:
- take a lot of photos, AND
- don’t mind selling any/some of them to earn some extra cash.
If you’ve not heard of it (in fact, I just did, too), FlickrCash turns Flickr into the world’s largest stock image marketplace by helping image buyers more efficiently FIND images and image owners to SELL them, by accepting payments for them and archiving licenses for public inspection. In simpler terms, FlickrCash is the “find image tool” for buyers and “sell image tool” for sellers.
Some of the main features of FlickrCash:
- multi parameter search with negative keywords, which returns as many thumbnails as your screen can display,
- saved searches with roll-back to get back to where you left off during image research,
- shareable lightboxes so clients can “heart” or “hate” images selected for the design project,
- auto/bulk watermarking of every image for every image owner on Flickr,
- installable lightbox grids and slideshows for publicity and marketing of images,
- royalty-free licenses based on Creative Commons, archived for public inspection at any time.
And, this is the limited time offer I was talking about *points up*
In the next week or so, FlickrCash will exit “beta” and begin to charge a monthly subscription. Registered users will enjoy advanced features like unlimited saved searches, shareable and installable lightboxes, and buying and selling. However, we will grandfather existing registered users — that is, users registered BEFORE the change will remain FREE FOR LIFE.
