I have never been so excited over a new phone as far as I can remember. I mean, I was happy when I got my first Nokia 3210 before I went to the university, but that was different. I got that phone because my family thought it would be easier for them to keep in touch with me while I was away.
But this time, it was the other way round.
I got myself a phone because I wanted to get in touch with my family. I was looking for IDD cards that I could use with my phone so that I could call home in the convenience of my room at my host’s instead of using the public payphones. But nobody quite understood what I wanted. Until I went to Wal-Mart the other day with Robert (he wanted to get a video camera for his wife for Mother’s Day) and I came across a lot of phones and minute (pre-paid) cards.
The store assistant was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and she answered all my questions like a professional
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I got myself a Motorola C139 for USD 12.88 and 400 units of talk and SMS time worth USD 39.88.
The wonderful thing about the TracFone package is that it costs only 10 cents per minute per call, regardless of whether it is a US (domestic) or international number! Isn’t that cool?
I mean, compared to my current Maxis roaming charges of RM 6 per minute, TracFone is definitely more worth it in the long run!
Anybody wants my phone number? ![]()
