Let’s help save Yvonne

Yuin Yin and her friends recently came out with a “Click to save Yvonne” campaign that involves the purchase of products — either a set of weight management products, or a set of basic skin care products. The products range in price from RM 437 to RM 721 each set. They’re not cheap, but all proceeds will go to “Yvonne’s Surgical Fees” to remove a brain tumor located at the left lateral ventricle, scheduled in December 2009.

If you’re looking for some weight management or skin care products, why not start by looking at these products?

But even if you aren’t looking for any of those products (like me, I can’t afford to lose anymore weight), you can also make a donation to Yvonne, or you can grab some products sold in Yvonne’s online store, or better still, get a copy of her autobiography, “I’m Not Sick, Just A Bit Unwell”.

Of course, you can also help by blogging about it, or twitting it, or telling your friends about it on Facebook or whenever you see them. Yuin Yin and her friends have also started a Facebook group to spread awareness about Yvonne, about Neurofibromatosis and about the urgent need to raise enough funds to save Yvonne.

For your information, the total amount needed for her up-coming surgery is RM 154,704.42 and so far, RM 113,248.01 has been raised.

So let’s concentrate our efforts and help raise the necessary funds for Yvonne to remove the tumour before it threatens her life :)

Lots of contests, but are you in?

You know what’s funny?

I am running a series of simple-to-play and fun contests on the official Pink for October website, but why aren’t YOU participating? We are giving away a lot of attractive prizes throughout the month, plus, it’s for a good cause! Did you know that by participating, you are actually reaching out to your readers and increasing awareness on this deadly but preventable disease? :D

So let me tell you more about the contests that I’m running:

Every Monday and Thursday, I will announce a word, and you are supposed to find or take a picture that best describes that word and blog about it. After that, you should drop by and leave me a comment and link on the post. It’s that easy! On Oct 31st, I will randomly pick a lucky winner from all those who leave me a comment. Which means that the more you play, the higher your chances are of winning something :D

On top of that, there are also those month-long contests. You could either share a breast cancer related true story, or you could design a Pink for October button/banner/badge, and and on Oct 31st, I will randomly pick a winner.

Seriously, MY CONTESTS are definitely easier than those that ask you to write a 5000-word essay about your first love, or why you like to watch rainbows, no?

Contests @ Pink for October

Alright, I have just kick-started the first of 12 contests that will be held on the official Pink for October website.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It’s THAT time of the year now! If you haven’t gone pink, now’s the best time to do it :D

If your friends will laugh at you for turning your blog pink despite being a boy/gentleman, tell them that it’s for a wonderful cause — a cause that everybody who has a Mum, a grandmother, a sister, a girlfriend, a wife, a friend, a colleague or a neighbour should be concerned about.

For your information, I will be running a super-fun a la photo hunt contest on the official Pink for October website throughout the month. It is a very simple and flexible contest, and is aimed at getting more people involved in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as learning something new each day :D

Also, check out our list of sponsors who have so generously offered some pretty and unique prizes for the contest. Without our sponsors, there wouldn’t be a contest.

In less than a week, websites will GO PINK to bring attention to the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. People will start talking about breast cancer and raise money for research.

The hope is that you turn your site pink (in whatever way works for your site), educate yourself about the multiple issues related to Breast Cancer, then take that knowledge and tell someone else what you’ve learned.

If you’re game, go ahead and sign up to go pink in October. You don’t have to redo your entire theme, though you may do it if you want to :D You could just change your banner image, or the colours of your fonts, or links. Really, whatever rocks your boat :D

You may also want to check out the list of websites/blogs that have signed up to go pink in October in 2008. Go visit their websites/blogs and learn a little more about breast cancer.

As with previous years, there are some really pretty Go Pink badges and buttons that you can download and place on your website/blog. You could also design and contribute some badges and buttons if you wish :D
