On Friday, Oct 23rd, we will be finalizing the turtle-related questions that we would have received by then. We will also be arranging the flow in which we answer those questions so that you will have a better idea of what we will be talking about. Raising funds for the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) is important, but we also strive to ensure that the information that we will be presenting reach out to a wide range of people :) To us, public awareness is equally important, because we believe that only an informed public can make an informed decision :)
Since we announced the Turtle Blogathon last week, we have received some really interesting questions, for example:
- Why are green turtles so-called? They don’t look green at all!
- Does the recent tsunami affect the population of the sea turtles?
So if you haven’t submitted your turtle questions, you can either email your questions to cp@turtleconservationcentre.org from now until Oct 22nd, or you can just use the form below (which is easier than firing up your Outlook or GMail, right?).
You can ask us just about anything, such as:
- Do turtles sleep?
- How long can a sea turtle stay underwater?
- Can turtles overturn themselves when they are turned turtle?
[FORM REMOVED]
A very generous sponsor has just pledged to sponsor some really amazing prizes for us to give away during the Turtle Blogathon, and these include:
- a 5D4N stay at either Bali, Phuket or Pattaya,
- a 3d2N stay at one of 6 locations in Malaysia, and
- an opportunity to fly a plane. YES, YOU READ IT RIGHT. FLY A PLANE. AWESOME.
More information will be revealed at the TCC website from time to time, leading up to the Turtle Blogathon, so stay tuned! :)

I think my question will be what is the average lifespan of a turtle :D
Is really good to have Blogathon not only to raise fund but increase the awareness of everyone in the planet :)
I will promote the Blogathon ya before I leave the plane in 23rd :)
The drawing above seems showing a tortoise instead of a turtle. LMAO
All the more reason why you should drop by the TCC website during the Turtle Blogathon, Tony :)
To put it simply, “turtle” is a general term that describes an animal that has a shell. Sea turtles are those that live in the sea, terrapins are those that live in rivers and tortoises are those that live on land.
Pelf, good one. I was wondering what is the difference of turtle and tortoise before seeing your comment :D
Haha…Thx Pelf. Now i only know ab that :D
I wonder how many years can a sea turtle live?
Just sent you over three questions, I hope they haven’t been asked yet. I had meant to send them over via email when I read your other post, but forgot :)
When will the questions be answered and where to find the answers? Also, regarding the questions, do they have to be about sea turtles or can they be about terrapins and tortoises? Thanks!
Hi Jack, the questions will be answered during the 24-hour Turtle Blogathon on the TCC website (http://www.turtleconservationcentre.org). And yes, we can only answer turtle-related questions because we do not have the authority nor the knowledge and experience to talk about elephants or tigers :)
Cool, thanks. And how come you are prejudiced about my animal site and disable the link? Did I do something wrong? Or did I not make sufficient donations to your causes? :/
I am not prejudiced, Jack. To be brutally honest, the Animal Danger site did not convince me that it wasn’t one of those websites that pull information from other websites. I have visited the site a few times since the first time you left me a comment (in Sept).
Plus, the email listed on the website was different from the two emails that you have used to leave comments here.
But now I know that you aren’t a spammer, I will reinstate the site :) No hard feelings, OK? :)
P/S: Hhahah, it’s not about the money. It’s more about who I link to, because in terms of blogging, a link to a certain site represents my approval of that site. I hope you understand :)
There are websites that pull info? What would be intentions of such sites? And 1 last question: what is pelfism? :o Thanks for the explanations!
Yes, Jack, there are such sites and those sites are really annoying. Spammers use certain scripts to pull blog posts that mention certain keywords and reproduce the whole post in its entirety. And these sites usually have advertisements all over.
Anyway, “pelfism” is a word I came out with when I was thinking of a name of my blog. It is supposed to mean “everything about pelf”. LOL.
