It has been a long, long time since I have posted anything, hasn’t it? :) Heh. A lot of things have happened in the past month, I had been extremely busy, and stressed at one point, but everything is now fine and dandy, I guess :)
My new car
I’m still loving it :)
Turtle workshop
We (as in the Turtle Research and Rehabilitation Group of UMT) organized a turtle workshop from 1st to 3rd June in one of the newest hotels in Kuala Terengganu, FELDA Residence. I had been very involved in the organizing of the workshop — from requesting for quotations from several hotels, to negotiating for good rates since we were operating under tight budgets, to confirming the number of rooms we would need to confirming the menu for the banquet dinner, to arranging to pick up our participants from the airport as well as helping them check in and making sure that they were comfortable, to entertaining the numerous requests from our participants during the workshop, to arranging to send them to the airport after the workshop.
I wouldn’t say that I was the one who did everything because it was really impossible due to the nature of the workshop, and I was (still am) truly glad for the support given by Fong, a fellow graduate student, who took a week off her busy schedule to assist in the workshop. Without her presence and most importantly, moral support, I would have broken down before the workshop ended. LOL. Thanks, Fong! Also, thanks Sean, for showing up and for being there :)
My birthday
Thank you so so much to everybody who left me birthday messages on Facebook, as well as those of you who sent me SMSes. I wasn’t able to reply to the Facebook messages because I was busy with the workshop (remember?) but I just wanted you guys to know that I truly appreciate the thought, and the wishes :)
Also, guess what I got for my birthday? Two things — an autobiography entitled “How STARBUCKS Saved My Life” from somebody who remembers the kind of books I love. It’s a story about a man who had everything, then lost it all, and later found it again.
And this from J :)
Road trip
After the workshop ended, I took a 4-day leave and went on a road trip with J, who made a last-minute decision to return to Malaysia a few weeks earlier. From Kuala Terengganu, we drove to KL instead of Melaka because my aunt, who was holidaying on the East Coast had to go to KL to attend a funeral. After dropping her in Gombak, we drove back to Melaka where we spent 3 days with my family.
Then Mum, sis, J and I drove to Ipoh and there began our eat-all-you-can spree. My sister and J were the champions in Ipoh because they literally stuffed their faces with everything — a whole salted chicken, chicken hor fun, dim sum, you name it, they stuff it. LOL.
The following day, J and I drove to Penang, where I began my eat-all-I-can spree :) From Hokkien mee to char kuey teow (with duck eggs) to cendol. Heaven.
The one thing I found funny was that I did not take a single picture during the road trip, which I thought was so unlike myself. I have always been the one ever-ready with a camera to take pictures of people, things and food, but surprisingly, not this time around (though I regret it now, but why didn’t I do it?!).
Workshop on publishing
I have just returned from Redang Island yesterday for a 3D2N workshop on publishing. I learned a great deal about publishing from the workshop and suddenly, publishing a book doesn’t seem like such a far-fetched idea anymore! :) But of course, the hardest part is to start writing, LOL :)
So, what have you been doing in the past month? I haven’t been reading any blogs since I-forgot-when, but let me know and I’ll start with yours :)

Yes, it has been quite a long time since your last post, and I had assumed that you were just too busy running around in your new car. This post really shows how busy you have been. Good for you. Nothing like being busy to keep out of mischief!
Nothing extraordinary has happened to me the last month. The usual drudgery.
“The usual drudgery”?!
Aww.. Come on, let me give you a hug!
Wouldn’t I love to receive it. Let us hope that it will happen. Thank you.
Your new car:
I love it too.
Your birthday
Glad that you got what you wanted. BTW, you forgot to mention about the birthday cake and special candle I bought specially for you. Hope you like it. No, thank you. I don’t want the same candle for my birthday. *teeheehee*
Our road trip
Definitely a fun trip! I can’t believe that I didn’t take any pictures too. Probably I was too busy stuffing my face silly with dimsum, salted chicken, chicken hor fun, white coffee and salted chicken. Oppss… did i mention salted chicken earlier?
And welcome back to blogging world. Geez
I forgot your birthday! Here’s Happy Belated Birthday to you!! :)
Thanks, Grace :)
Glad to see you are back! I would like to wish you a happy belated birthday as well ;)
I was actually considering taking a little vacation today, but probably just a day trip. It really can be really relaxing and nice to take a break sometimes.
In regards to publishing a book, I do so much writing that I was considering this myself. My problem isn’t the writing, but really just knowing what to do once the book is done and how to market it.
I do hope you will read the Starbucks book. My wife read it and she loved the story. She talked about it for days LOL
Oh, and a late Happy Birthday :)
Whether you post frequently or not I’ll always be here waiting to read up your writings. I can understand how busy you are there as I’m having the same situation here as well. For the past 2 months I have been busy with the preparation and participation of the Earth Day, launching of MNS Langkawi chapter, nature walks for resort guests as well as special interest groups, generating more green practices for the resort, representing the resort in all Langkawi environmental issues, World Environment Day and now the latest being in preparation of training program for the upcoming climate change convention held in Langkawi this October and before that attending the Green Building Index Forum on 2nd of July in KL… Everything seems endless but I’m enjoying to the max.
By the way, since you are in the turtle business and I’m working in a green resort trying to teach everyone to go green, it would be good if I could use your help to spread the awareness of turtle conservation here in Langkawi. Maybe you wanna come to Langkawi to have marine life talks? If you come, I personally welcome you to drop by and have a look at the green things that we are practicing. I’m sure you’ll love it. =)
Loony, please don’t tell people that I’m in the “turtle business” because I don’t want them to misunderstand what I do, hahaha..
We can definitely discuss about your proposal :) Email me!
more than one month since your last post!! welcome back!
Sounds like you’ve been busy! Good to see an update from you. :)
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
Nice to see your blog. Is there any plan to initiate “Save The Turtle” campaign, sounds like lesser and lesser turtle came to Rantau Abang to nest :(
