One of the main challenges of writing a personal blog is to only write whatever that can be written and not write anything that cannot be written, without compromising what needs to be communicated.

This, I have not mastered.

Don’t worry. I am sure you will master the ’skill’ one day. I have a book by William Zinsser, entitled ‘On Writing Well’. I hope it will guide you. Good luck.

  2. Nicole Price says:

You will if you blog enough and often. All the best.

  3. Jeff says:

You just need to learn how to write equivocally. :)

  4. Jeff says:

Oops, the last sentence of my comment got cut off. It was supposed to say, “That way you can write what you want without anyone knowing for sure what you’re talking about”.

  5. Grace says:

I know what exactly you’re talking about! I feel you!

  6. Franklin says:

I guess the thing to keep in mind is to simply write whatever it is that you wish to write. Having done this, nothing else will matter :)

  7. Oh, Pelf…but I think you have!

  8. Franklin says:

I see the problem now. Now you have learned a valuable lesson, my friend. That being, NEVER let your supervisors or bosses know that you have a blog.

  9. pelf says:

But Franklin, almost everything is searchable these days. Unless one uses a pseudonym. But when I started my blog, I didn’t want to hide behind the screen, you see.

But then again, having a blog has also opened up opportunities to things/events that I never thought would happen to me :) So I guess that’s why I will continue to be myself on my blog, I will continue to make this a personal blog, and I will continue to defend my rights to blog about whatever I want, of course, without humiliating anybody.

This, I have to learn :)

It is really difficult to not share youself with a blog without spilling out too many details. It gets weird with a blog when your friends and family or coworkes as Franklin said reads it.
