This is a very sad subject... The subject where we talk about animals being killed for products that simply look good.

How would the poachers feel if we did to them what they did to the poor animals that are dying & the only reason they are dying is because the features on these turtles & other animals would look good in a home or office or whatever.

But just because they LOOK good does that mean they should keep doing it? I understand they get a lot of money for these animals and they need it because they're most likely to be people who are bored with their owns lives so they decide to take something else's life away.

I think it is RUBBISH!!

Just because they're animals, doesn't make them any different from us... we eat, sleep, play & fight like them but unlike them (sometimes) we have the choice if we'd like to die or not... these poor creatures don't. They have to die when the poachers want them to or else.

I'd just like to say that I'm currently creating a Advertising Poster to stop poaching against the Hawksbill Turtle. It's only a school thing but because our school is big, the word should get around pretty quickly. I was wondering if there was a website to donate to these poor creatures who are dying. I'd like to make a donation myself...

Hopefully, one day, we can live in PEACE!!

Sadly, I don't think people will care until they do go extinct. It reminds me of a video I saw on Youtube about how we will continue to pilfer the earth of all its natural resources, until there is no planet left. We won't take the time to apply conservation, or at least learn to take only what we need vs. things for luxury.

When so few people care about what they buy, this sort of thing will continue to happen. It's horrible but at least this sort of news is now finally coming out. These stories were often suppressed during the mahathir years.

Glad you're back Pelf and look forward to learning more about turtles!

How absolutely SAD. :( I have to agree with dreamer. Another example that comes to mind is with sharks and shark fin soup - and the Chinese. They throw them back into the water while they're still alive and they just sink to the bottom. It's absolutely frustrating. It seems rather drastic and, of course untraditional, but drastic measures need to be taken and everyone needs to take responsibility. I mean, not eating shark fin soup at a wedding? We have to put our money where the mouth is and quash that market.
