My first attempt taking pictures of flowers and posting it here in my sister’s blog received many encouragements from dear bloggers. Your words had given me more strength to snap another picture of an unknown flower. I hope you’ll like it (=

I realised the petals made the flower look like a little red butterfly.
If you think this post might benefit other bloggers:
Nice pic~!
Isn’t that the large variety of the Ixora plant? If you pluck one of the flowers carefully, you’ll notice a thin filament sticking out of the base…carefully pull it out and you’ll be rewarded with one drop of sweet nectar at the other end. I used to do this as a kid with my mom’s Ixora plant.
WARNING: DO NOT attempt this at public gardens or plants that have been sprayed with insecticide. You will probably get poisoned and DIE~! (I think…).
Yep, that’s the ixora, all right. I too sucked the nectar out of the thin filament when I was much younger. Ahh I remember good times with this plant :p
Err
I saw only Siantan
Plastron & Tine: Yes, yes… I used to suck them when I was young too. I remember my friends said, “Pull out the filament slowly and you’ll get a drop of ‘ribena’.” Haahaa (=
Fond memories of the past…but I dare not try it now though, what with acid rain, pesticides, herbicides, backsides(oops…)…well, you get my point…
This plant is quite common in gardens and sideways around KL. Heh…Pelfy showing her photography skills again~
Bila kakak kamu balik ke ‘blog’ ini, Pelfy?
Very lovely picture
I like it! Reminds me of… how do you guys call it… oh yeah, spring!
Still shoveling the snow here in Canada…!!!
Pelfy,
Great job done, you have capture the Ixora plant at the perfect moment with the perfect angle. I love this photo very much!
Plastron,
Well, plants are magnificent life forms. From what I have studied, plants are able to maintain the dynamic equilibrium even though some chemicals are found to be high level in the soil. They simply absorb what they need only, wonderful isn’t it? Little acid rain and all those stuff that you have mentioned won’t hurt the flower at all so it’s safe to consume the nectar. =)
This flower has nectar in it, I believe. …. which can be sucked out by us humans.
ColourfulWorld,
Sure bor? Later I lau sai le?
greeting a spring flower with something like joy….

Pelfy,
Hey, your sister’s project was on NST yesterday. They managed to tagged 30 terapins if I’m not mistaken. Please congratulate her for me. Thx!
Sorry, only 1 has been tagged, the remaining 30 will soon be tagged… My mistake. =p
That’s a beautiful flower. What kind? I love how the sunlight comes through just on the flower petals. Nice work.
