Photo HuntI’m going to admit that I have unwillingly missed the last two installments of Photo Hunt, so I’d like to apologize for those who dropped by. I had been busy up to my neck, you see..

Anyway, this week’s theme is “creative” and after searching for an appropriate picture in my hard disk and Flickr account, I found this, a picture that I had taken very very recently..

Hand-made bags @ the Night Bazaar

Look at these hand-made bags! Aren’t they pretty? I mean, those people who actually made them must be very creative to come up with various different designs and motifs :)

When we were in Chiang Mai last week, my friends and I visited the Night Bazaar every night. Partly because the “bazaar” was actually a shopping haven for us tourists, and there were practically everything between the sky and land. Well, almost.. From hand-made handbags to pillow casses to beaded shoes to T-shirts to bath robes to hand-made bracelets to table lamps to pirated DVDs, you name it, they have it :D

But also partly because the prices were bargain-able :D On our first night, we didn’t manage to buy cheap stuff because we haven’t mastered the much-needed bargaining skills. But after comparing the prices of things that all 8 of us bought, we’ve learned to be more “daring” when bargaining with the vendors.

At the Anusarn Market

We’ve learned to slash the price they offered us into half and further round it DOWN to the cheaper Baht. We’ve learned to look disinterested and we’ve learned to “slowly walk away” in an attempt to fool the vendors that we were really leaving.. Sometimes this worked, sometimes not :)

How do you bargain at night markets? Do you slash prices into half, one-third?

I’m lousy at bargaining. So lousy, in fact, that I will just pay the stated price because it wearies me so. I’d love to buy one of those bags!

I bought this bag last week at Cilandak Town Square. It’s made of denim and two old records (Chicago and The Beatles). I was told by the seller that the records were the collection of one of Indonesian movie directors, Rizal M…
