My call for submission of articles written to honour our Mums wasn’t taken up very enthusiastically but nonetheless, I’d like to thank Pat, Yvy, Sarakastic, Jessica and Catriona for participating. Thank you very much, your support mean a lot to me *hugs*
So yeah, as promised, this is the “list” of articles submitted:
- Pat wrote about the significance of being a mother in a post entitled Mother’s Day.
- Yvy wrote about how her Mum became “everything to her and her sister” after her Dad’s passing in My Mummy, My Hero.
- If she was crowned the princess of the world, a bulk of Sarakastic’s gratitude in her acceptance speech will go to her Mum. Read about it at My Princess Acceptance Speech.
- Read about Jessica’s tribute to her “mommeh” in The Giver of Life, My Mother.
- Catriona wrote a sweet tribute to her Mum at Happy Mother’s Day!
But apart from those listed above, I’ve also done quite a fair bit of homework and found quite a number of good Mother’s Day reads, and I’d like to share them with you. I hope you’ll enjoy reading them as much as I’ve enjoyed preparing this list
- Read about the Real Mother’s Day Tradition.
- Watch this Mother’s Day for Peace video
- joshB recalled the hand-made cards that he made for his Mum when he was younger, and how he sneaked into his Mum’s room and used her perfumes to create that “perfect new fragrance” for her in Happy Mother’s Day.
- In the spirit of Mother’s Day and its origins, give Mum an e-card with a donation to No More Victims, a non-profit, non-sectarian, humanitarian organization whose mission is to restore the health and well-being of victims of war and to advocate and educate for peace. Your donation will help bring Salee — who lost both her legs while playing outside her home in Hasswa, Iraq — to the United States for treatment. You may donate via PayPal.
- “What would it take to make your Mum perfect?”
“On the inside shes already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.” Kids say the darnest things!
- A husband devoted an entire week on his blog to honour his wife, Kristine. So sweet of him..
Added (May 19th, 2007):
I received some more articles right before I switched hosts, so I’m adding them here:
- Bengbeng wrote about how his late Mum made do with very little yet refused to compromise on anything, especially when it came to her children’s nutrition in Remembering Madam Dolly, a mother’s sacrifice.
- Homeschoolzoo wrote about the teacher in her Mum, who’s 85 this year
in Happy Mother’s Day!
