How many of you know it’s Earth Day this April 22nd (5 more days to go!!)? Go check out my new charity-based site because I blogged about how you can help save the earth in 10 simple wayse.g. leave your car at home, recycle whenever possible, save water and electricity and what-have-yous.

OK, the new charity-based site aside, there are still a lot of things we need to learn for us to be able to “save our earth” because without the necessary knowledge (remember our teachers used to say “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER”?), we will not be able to take the necessary steps to ensure the best for our earth.

Anyway, I hope some of the reading materials listed below will be of some interest to you *smiles*

  • Global warming is a significant increase in the Earth’s climatic temperature over a relatively short period of time as a result of the activities of humans. In specific terms, an increase of 1 or more degrees Celsius in a period of one hundred to two hundred years would be considered global warming. Over the course of a single century, an increase of even 0.4 degrees Celsius would be significant.
  • Composting is a method for treating solid waste in which organic material is broken down by microorganisms in the presence of oxygen to a point where it can be safely stored, handled and applied to the environment. Composting is an essential part of reducing household wastes. It can be done inexpensively by every household and produces a product — finished compost or humus — that can benefit the environment as a natural fertilizer for gardening and farming.
  • How to drive economically provides maintenance, gas-saving and fuel-efficient driving tips. You may also want to learn how to improve your fuel economy.
  • And if you’re a do-it-yourself kind of person, there’s a whole article dedicated to repairing the toilet because it is one of the most important fixtures in our home. Clogging is perhaps the most common toilet trouble, but it is far from the only one. The tank, for example, can make all sorts of strange noises, or water can run continuously. Fortunately, most toilet troubles can be fixed by a do-it-yourself plumber *winks*

Yes let’s make the world a better place. I’ll start with planting more greens and ‘refusing’ the use of plastic bags.

    pelf: YaY! :)
