Yea I know, you’ve read about this not too long ago right? The thing is, KUSTEM wasn’t upgraded to UMT on January 1st, like I said because apparently, the staff didn’t have enough time to sign the declaration or something. I’m not very sure about what they’re supposed to sign, because I’m not a staff, I’m only a student. But anyway, it’s now official.
There were quite a number of students at the main gate yesterday evening when I was coming home and my guess was that they were there to take pictures of the KUSTEM logo and wordings at the main entrance. Soo… For lack of better words, emotional, hahahha ![]()
Ouh, and the new website is also launched today. We used to have this..

But now we have this..

And, and, and.. Somebody from the IT department used some of the pictures I took, which are stored in my Flickr account, WITHOUT my permission. How cool is that?! J and I were scrutinizing the new website and then we came to this page and there was a picture which showed the inside of our library. I thought that picture looked like the one I took but dismissed the idea that somebody used my picture because, hey, anybody can take a similar picture, you know.. But no.. When I looked closer, I realized that it was indeed my picture!
And then we stumbled upon a picture of the farley, and J said, “Whoa! This looks like the one I took” and I was like, “No, it looks like the one I took.” True enough, it was MINE.
Wow.. How funny can this be?! I mean, if the IT guys needed a picture of the campus, the could have told me about it and I would have allowed them to use any of the pictures I took. If they didn’t want to contact me, or if they were too lazy to call or email me, they could always get a point-and-shoot camera and shoot to their heart’s content, right?
I really don’t mind them using my pictures, really. In fact, I’m flattered that my pictures are being used in the website!
Addendum: Case is settled. I asked the Webmaster about it, then he apologized profusely, asked for my permission to use the pictures, and I granted him the permission, he’s happy and so am I.
If you think this post might benefit other bloggers:

That’s pretty generous of you
pelf: Ouh, thanks
I think I am a generous person generally
congratulations for getting your photos published then!:D
pelf: Hhehehe, thanks
although i still think you should make the university admin aware that the webmaster is going around stealing photos from people’s flickr accounts.
pelf: I told the Webmaster directly, he apologized, then asked for permission, I granted, then he thanked me. All’s well
