The following day should be declared a holiday too, right? For example, this year’s first day of Chinese New Year falls on a Sunday. And since we are given two days off for Chinese New Year, Monday is also a holiday, right? So is Tuesday, right? No confusion so far right?
But what if the first day of Chinese New Year falls on a Saturday? We all know that the second day is also a holiday, so yea, Sunday is a holiday. But since Sunday is already a holiday, it will be replaced on Monday. Question is, is Tuesday also a holiday, since Saturdays are no longer considered weekdays?
It gets even more confusing if you’re staying in Terengganu. More than half of the time I don’t quite understand why we’re accorded the holidays - if the university says next Sunday is a holiday, so it will be.
For example, today is Awal Muharam, which is a public holiday. So tomorrow is also a holiday for us, because today is already a holiday. Makes sense, right? OK. But if Awal Muharam falls on a Friday, which is already a holiday, the next day (Saturday) is not deemed a holiday! And why is this so?? *scratches head* I’m not counting my holidays yet, but I just find little things like these amusing.
The State Government has its own set of public holidays, which comprises of more religion-related holidays compared to other West Coast states, which is fine by me. But I just find that there are things that do not make sense.
Or am I too st*pid to understand it all?
