From the Veterinary Department in Kuala Terengganu, no kidding! *smacks forehead*
J went to donate blood at the General Hospital yesterday and I took the opportunity to ask the officers in the Blood Bank whether they have any idea from where I could get some vacutainer tubes containing lithium heparin. Surprisingly, the officers had no idea that there are actually tubes with green caps. All that they’ve ever handled were either those containing nothing (red caps) or EDTA (lavender caps)!
Oh by the way, the Kuala Terengganu General Hospital recently changed its name to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah. And I was wondering whether it is “OK” to give a name to a general hospital. I mean, what’s wrong with “Hospital Kuala Terengganu”?
I digressed.
And then on our way back, we dropped by at the Veterinary Clinic and I managed to get an officer to unlock the rather dusty cabinets in which he found a box of vacutainer tubes! With green caps! Boy, was I beaming with joy!

But upon closer inspection and with what little common sense I had, I asked the officer whether the tubes were expired. He turned the box around a couple of times, and then with the straightest face said, “Ya. Sudah expire.”
If I could see my own heart, I bet you it was breaking into pieces.

This is how “tame” terrapins look like - tame. Especially when they have just been given a whole tank of clean water.

And this is how the hungry terrapins look like when they’re being fed. For some reasons, they’re always hungry, and they just can’t seem to get enough food, no matter how much we feed them *winks*
