I offered to give away 5 coupon booklets to be used at the Share-A-Gift Carnival, where proceeds from the sale of coupons will go to the funds raised for 50 charity homes, and all one needs to do is to promise me that s/he will be at the Carnival but NOBODY responded to it.
And I thought the response from the Blogathon stint was bad!
But then, whenever somebody gives away free Pixart vouchers or LG chocolates or Crocs, response is almost always overwhelming, no?
We are a materialistic bunch, aren’t we?
If you think this post might benefit other bloggers:

Mmm… in a sense, yes, the way the capitalistic system runs.. not to mention the inescapability of adverts, and the ephemereality and constant production of the ‘new’ and ‘chic’, the symbolic value system created through material-consumption, we aren’t that ‘free’ as we think we might be. That’s why I’m social-culturally a Marxist (though Asian ppl will mistake this for Communism and other ‘evil’ ideology).

The other benign and more plausible reason is this: books. Would most Malaysians go for books or an H/P or even a movie ticket? The answer is clear. Books lose hands down. Even kids would opt for designer clothes, rather than a book. So, don’t feel disappointed then, Pelf. Cheers.
pelf: Haaa! I see English!
But yea, I think I buy this explanation
Eh? WHEN YOU OFFERED? WHY I DIDN’T SEE? *Cries*
pelf: Awww.. Don’t cry, it’s still valid, if you’d like to go
Ermm…. You know I would’ve responded if I were there right? Hehe.. =P
pelf: Yea, I know.. Merv is a good boy
