So, I was receiving way toooo many spams in a day, and I have been spending a lot of time going through them before clearing them - because there were instances where real comments were marked as spam. I thought I shouldn’t be spending too much time with those spams, so I decided to let the spam-fighter do it.

I installed “Did you pass math?” and it basically makes you do a very simple arithmetic before you could submit your comment. I don’t know what went wrong, but some of my comments were also eaten as well!

Now.. I receive email notifications whenever somebody comments in my blog. However, the last few comments from tonixe and EJ did not appear in my blog - eventhough their comments have been delivered to my email. Weird, no?

So tonixe and Emma EJ, it’s NOT my fault that your comments do NOT appear in my blog :( If you happen to know why, please let me know, OK?

Wah … this is a very ‘complicated’ filter.

Do you have to approve the comments as well to get them published here?

pelf: Very complicated indeed :( And no, I do not moderate the comments because I believe everybody who comes over is old enough to tell what should be said and what shouldn’t *winks*

Maybe your mathematics filter very “canggih”, it detected copying of results between tonixe and EJ hence….. just joking.

pelf: Like that also can? But then again, I really think something is wrong with the “system”.. :(

i had a HUGE problem with spammers, then i experimented with a few anti-spam plugins. i strongly recommend Akismet. Very easy to install, won’t block normal comments.

pelf: But I already have Akismet installed!! :( And I noticed, for every “real” comment I receive, there will be three or four spams.

Yeap that shows you and your terrapins are popular LOL. Emma is a pondan name lo. Makes me sound like one of those ah pons in Lorong Haji Taib roaming at night in a tight minishorts, spaghetti strap and unshaven legs :P

pelf: Wei, how did you KNOW about those Emmas, huh?! And you actually SAW their unshaven legs?!

Are you using this one? If so, it should work. Please mind where you put the code to “call” the function. If you placed it between codes ONLY for registered (logged in) Wordpress users, it shuts certain people out. I had that experience when I did mine and had an “Ooops” moment. Luckily my WP theme was well documented with lots of comments in its code so even novices at PHP like me can do it.

Do a Ctrl+F search to find where the fields for Name, Email and URL are and place the code behind each one. Mind you there sometimes can be two sets. One for logged in, one for non-logged in users.

    Good luck!

pelf: WOW.. This is impressive.. And I should sit down and digest everything :) Thanks heaps!
