They didn’t do anything wrong as in, they restored your latest backup / database. That’s what they are supposed to be when their server crash.

But, the wrong part was they didn’t inform you that the server crashed and didn’t tell you what they plan to do until you emailed them.

They thought restoring up till 30th Sept was good enough, when you wanted 8th Oct. Err… Nevermind.

Get a better host when your account expires. :P

pelf: I forgot to tell you – the server didn’t crash (this was what they said) – they moved part of the old server to the new server. I am sure the move was not a last-minute one, and I really expected them to inform their customers.

i guess sometimes computer age is like that, harddisk crash, system failure, power failure etc etc. Do backup yourself often also, if they lost their backup too, then you will lose all your post. Then lagi susah.

pelf: Exactly what I was thinking. But I couldn't be doing backing ups every day, can I?

That's why I prefer to pay a little bit more and get a smaller company (errm...Bryan is not exactly a company also. :) ) Those big words from the webhost can be very intimidating and give us see stars only hor? Last time I hosted with a big-big company, dem susah, must issue tickets lah, must deal with their staffs in the right department lah etc etc.

pelf: My host is not exactly a BIG company, but yea.. Maybe I should get their phone numbers so that I can contact them anytime I want, instead of sending them emails and getting replies the next day :)

Haha... Okay what, at least they have the latest backups of your blog. Well, they didn't do anything wrong actually. Hehe. You can't have win-win situation. :D

pelf: What do you mean "they didn't do anything wrong"?! The least they could have done was to tell me about the what was happening and what they planned to do. They could easily write an email and send it to all their customers. That way I would have patiently waited for them to restore my database instead of me doing my own thing, and they doing their own thing!
